Planting

Creating new life through native species

BACKGROUND

While our work at Pirongia Forest Park does not entail restoration planting, there are a number of local projects that seek assistance with re-establishing native plantings, and our group promotes these to our members and volunteers. These opportunities generally involve one or two days where plantings are organised with the plants provided, and anyone interested comes along with a spade and boots etc to help get plants in the ground. Sometimes there is follow-up required with releasing the plants from weeds and this only usually takes one day

PROJECT INFO

Projects we have helped with include the Pirongia Landfill Planting, Lake Rotopiko Riparian Planting, Te Ngahere Resereve, Te Rore Water Supply Stream Protection Planting, Matakitaki Reserve and the Pirongia Esplanade Restoration Planting.
